Mobile Fleet Maintenance for Work Pickups & Vans — Done After Hours
Updated October 2026Heritage 4x4 Outfitters provides mobile fleet maintenance for Louisville businesses that run work pickups and vans: HVAC, plumbing, electrical, landscaping and other service companies. Noah, the owner, comes to your lot on weekday evenings and weekends, after your crews park for the day, and services your trucks where they sit. They're back on the road the next morning, and nobody loses a workday waiting on a shop.
Fleet Maintenance Should Happen When Your Trucks Aren't Making Money
For a service business, a work truck in the shop costs more than the repair bill. It's a technician who can't run calls, a crew that has to double up, or a job that slides to tomorrow. Drop it off in the morning and it's often gone all day, sometimes two.
Most of that downtime isn't necessary. Oil changes, brakes, batteries and most front-end work don't need a shop, and they don't need to happen during business hours. So we flip the schedule: your trucks work during the day, and Noah services them in the evening or on the weekend, in your own lot. You talk to the owner, the owner does the work, and the truck is ready when your crew clocks in.
Fleet Vehicle Maintenance and Repair We Do in Your Lot
That schedule works because most fleet vehicle maintenance is driveway work. Here's what we handle on site.
Preventive Maintenance
Oil and filter changes, fluid checks and top-offs, differential and transfer case fluid on four-wheel-drive pickups, air and cabin filters, belts, hoses, wipers, lights and batteries. Regular service on a schedule is what keeps small problems from becoming a truck parked for a week.
Brakes
Pads, rotors, calipers, hoses and fluid. Work trucks loaded with tools, parts and equipment wear brakes faster than personal vehicles, so we check them at every visit. More on our mobile brake repair page.
Steering and Suspension
Ball joints, tie rods, shocks and springs. A loaded van or pickup puts constant weight on the front end and rear springs, which is why sagging and wandering are common on work vehicles.
Inspections and Reports
A walk-around inspection on each vehicle at every visit: tires (condition and pressure, not tire service), lights, fluids, brakes, steering and leaks. You get a written note on each vehicle with what we found, what we did and what's coming due.
Bigger Repairs
If a vehicle needs work that a parking lot can't handle, we'll tell you right away. Bigger jobs that need a shop floor are by arrangement. Ask us.
What Fleet Downtime Costs a Louisville Service Business
All of that work fits after hours, which matters because daytime is when your trucks make money.
When a service van goes to a shop during the week, the cost isn't just the invoice. Someone drives it there and gets a ride back. The technician who uses it either sits, shares a truck or takes the day off. The calls that van would have run get pushed, and in a busy season, pushed calls turn into lost customers.
After-hours service removes most of that. The truck is serviced while it would be parked anyway. Nobody drives it across town, nobody waits for a bay, and your schedule doesn't change. For a company running a handful of trucks, that adds up to fewer missed calls and fewer surprise breakdowns, because maintenance actually happens on schedule instead of getting put off until it's convenient.

Fleet Pickups and Work Vans We Service — and What We Don't
Downtime matters most for the vehicles your crews depend on, so here's exactly which ones we work on.
Work pickups: half-ton and midsize pickups like the Ford F-150, Chevy Silverado 1500, Ram 1500 and Toyota Tacoma. Heavy-duty pickups like the F-250 or Ram 2500 get brake work too, quoted separately because their parts cost more. For anything else on a heavy-duty pickup, ask us.
Work vans: cargo vans like the Ford Transit, Chevy Express and Ram ProMaster. We service the van itself. Ladder racks, shelving, refrigeration and other upfit equipment are outside our work.
What we don't service: semis and tractor-trailers, box trucks, dump trucks, tow trucks and buses. Heritage is built for the pickups and vans a local service company runs, not heavy commercial trucks.
When we work: weekday evenings from 5 to 8pm and weekends from 8am to 8pm. We're not a daytime breakdown service, so if a truck goes down mid-job, get it parked safely and we'll handle it that evening or that weekend. For your crew's personal pickups and SUVs, see our pickup and SUV repair page.
How to Set Up Fleet Maintenance With Heritage
Once we know your vehicles fit, setting up a schedule is simple. Here's how it works for a typical small fleet.
Start with a vehicle list. Year, make, model and current mileage for each truck and van, plus anything you already know needs attention. A photo of each dashboard's mileage works fine.
Pick a rhythm. Most fleets do best with a regular visit, every month or every other month, where Noah services whichever vehicles are due. Others prefer to call as each truck comes due. Either works; regular visits are what keep trucks from slipping past their intervals.
Sort out access. We work in your lot after hours, so we agree on where the vehicles park, how we get keys, and lighting and space to work. A level, paved spot with room around each vehicle is all we need.
Agree on approvals. Routine maintenance on the schedule happens without a call. Anything beyond that, like a brake job or a worn ball joint, gets a quote and your approval before the work starts. You decide where that line sits.
Keep the records. Every vehicle gets its own invoice with the mileage and the work done, so your service history builds up truck by truck.
Fleets of just a few vehicles are a good fit. We're one owner-technician, so we'd rather do a great job for a handful of local fleets than spread thin.
Fleet Maintenance Pricing: What You'll Pay
With the schedule set, here's how the work is priced.
- Labor: $120 an hour.
- No trip fee anywhere in our service area, no matter how many vehicles we service on a visit.
- Routine maintenance: from $120.
- Brakes: pads and rotors from $450, parts and labor, on half-ton pickups. Heavy-duty pickups and vans are quoted per vehicle.
- Free quotes on routine work like maintenance visits and brake jobs, so you know the cost before anything starts.
- Diagnostic: $120, only when there's an unknown problem to find, like a noise or a pull with no obvious cause.
- Parts ordered from the same suppliers shops use, usually in 1–3 days.
There's no storefront, front office or waiting room built into the bill, so the price goes into the parts and the work. And because the trucks are serviced while they'd be parked anyway, the downtime cost is close to zero.
What a Fleet Service Visit Covers
Here's what a regular maintenance visit includes on each vehicle, and why each check matters for a work truck.
Oil and filter, on schedule. Work trucks idle on job sites and make short trips between calls, which is harder on oil than highway miles. We follow the severe-service interval in the owner's manual unless you ask otherwise.
Fluids. Coolant, brake fluid, power steering where fitted, transmission fluid level, and differential and transfer case fluid on four-wheel-drive pickups.
Brakes. Pad thickness and rotor condition at every visit, since loaded work trucks wear brakes fastest.
Front end and suspension. Ball joints, tie rods and rear springs, which take the most abuse from constant weight.
Battery and charging. A battery test before winter and summer, when Kentucky's temperature swings kill weak batteries.
Tires, lights and wipers. Tread, pressure and damage noted, plus every light working. We note tire wear; tire service goes to a tire shop.
Each vehicle gets a short written note: what we did, what we found, and what's coming due next visit.

4 Fleet Maintenance Mistakes That Take Trucks Off the Road
That checklist exists because the same few mistakes take most work trucks out of service.
1. Waiting for a slow week
There's never a slow week to drop a truck off, so maintenance slides. How we avoid it: service after hours, so it never competes with the schedule.
2. Treating work trucks like personal vehicles
A loaded van on short trips needs the severe-service interval. How we avoid it: we service to how the truck is actually used.
3. No records by vehicle
Without a history per truck, nobody knows what's due. How we avoid it: an invoice and a note for every vehicle, every visit.
4. Fixing only what broke
A truck in for a brake noise often has worn ball joints too. How we avoid it: a full walk-around on every vehicle, and one quote for everything that's worn.
Fleet Maintenance in Louisville, KY — For Contractors on Both Sides of the River
Those mistakes hurt most during the seasons when Louisville service companies are busiest.
For HVAC companies, that's the middle of summer and the coldest weeks of winter, exactly when nobody can spare a truck for a day. Plumbers and electricians see the same spikes when storms and freezes hit. Landscapers are slammed spring through fall. After-hours maintenance means trucks get serviced through the busy season instead of being pushed off until it ends.
Kentucky weather is hard on work vehicles too. Road salt corrodes brake lines, calipers and exhaust parts all winter, temperature swings take out weak batteries, and potholes on I-64, I-65, I-71 and the Gene Snyder wear out the front ends of loaded trucks. Regular visits catch those problems before a truck breaks down on a job.
We cover Louisville and Southern Indiana within about 30 miles, so a company with crews on both sides of the river can keep the whole fleet on one schedule.

Fleet Maintenance Questions, Answered
Do you offer mobile fleet maintenance in Louisville?
Yes. Heritage 4x4 Outfitters services work pickups and vans for Louisville-area businesses in their own lots, on weekday evenings and weekends, within about 30 miles including Southern Indiana. There's no trip fee.
Do you need our vehicles during the workday?
No. That's the point. We service your vehicles after your crews park for the day, so they're back on the road the next morning.
Do you work on semi trucks or box trucks?
No. We service work pickups and cargo vans, not semis, tractor-trailers, box trucks or other heavy commercial trucks.
Are you insured?
Yes. Heritage 4x4 Outfitters is insured, and we can send a certificate of insurance on request.
How do you get access to our vehicles after hours?
We agree on it during the walk-through: where the vehicles park, how keys are handled, and lighting and space to work. Many companies leave keys in a lockbox or with a manager who's on site.
Can you handle a breakdown during the day?
Our hours are weekday evenings and weekends, so we're not a daytime breakdown service. If a truck goes down mid-job, get it parked safely and we'll take care of it that evening or that weekend. Regular maintenance visits are the best way to keep that from happening in the first place.
Do you service work vans?
Yes. We service cargo vans like the Ford Transit, Chevy Express and Ram ProMaster: oil and fluids, brakes, batteries, steering and suspension. We work on the van itself; ladder racks, shelving and other upfit equipment are outside our work.
What does fleet maintenance cost?
Routine maintenance starts at $120, and pads and rotors start at $450, parts and labor, on half-ton pickups. Labor is $120 an hour, and there's no trip fee no matter how many vehicles we service on a visit. Routine maintenance visits and brake jobs get a free quote first, and the $120 diagnostic only applies when there's an unknown problem to find. Anything beyond the agreed schedule gets your approval before the work starts.
How many vehicles can you handle?
We're built for small local fleets, from a couple of trucks up. We're one owner-technician, so we'll tell you honestly whether your fleet is a good fit before we start.
Do you keep service records?
Every vehicle gets its own invoice with the mileage and work done at each visit, plus a note on what's coming due, so you build a service history truck by truck.
