How Our Mobile Mechanic Service Works
Updated October 2026From your first call to the walkthrough at the end, here's exactly what happens when Heritage 4x4 Outfitters works on your Jeep, pickup or SUV. No drop-off, no ride to arrange and no surprise bill. You talk to Noah, the owner, and Noah does the work.
How Mobile Repair Works, From Your First Call to the Walkthrough
- 01
Tell us what's going on
Call (502) 557-6786 or send a service request. Tell us the year, make and model, what it's doing, when it started, and anything that makes it better or worse, like a shake that only shows up at 60 mph or a noise that goes away when you brake. The more you can tell us, the better prepared we show up. We work on Jeeps, pickup trucks and SUVs only, so if you drive a car, minivan or crossover, we'll tell you on the first call.
Call or request - 02
Noah calls you back
Noah is often under a vehicle when the phone rings, so if he can't pick up, leave a message or send a request. Reach out in the morning and you'll usually hear back at lunch. Reach out later in the day and you'll usually hear back after 5pm. On that call, he asks the questions that narrow the problem down.
Same day, most days - 03
Pick a time and a place
Appointments run weekday evenings from 5 to 8pm and weekends from 8am to 8pm. Most jobs happen in your driveway. A workplace lot works too, if repairs are allowed there and you're on site during those hours.
Evenings & weekends - 04
We look before we quote
For flat-rate jobs like brakes, accessory installs, and lift and leveling kit installs, you get a free quote by phone, from a few photos, or with a quick stop at your house. When there's an unknown problem to find, like a check engine light, a vibration or a noise nobody can place, we start with a $120 diagnostic. Noah finds what's actually wrong, shows you, and gives you a price. Nothing gets fixed until you say yes.
At your vehicle - 05
We order the right parts
Noah orders parts from the same suppliers repair shops use, so the right part shows up the first time. They usually arrive in 1–3 days, and he brings them with him on the day of the job. If the job needs special-order parts, we'll tell you before we order. You're also welcome to supply your own parts; see "Parts and warranty" below for how that works.
Usually 1–3 days - 06
The repair, in your driveway
Most repairs happen on one visit. Noah shows you the worn part before it comes off and tells you what can wait and what can't. If he finds something else along the way, he stops and asks before doing anything that wasn't on the quote.
Usually the same visit - 07
Walkthrough and follow-up
Torque checked, a test drive, and a walk-through of what we did and why. After steering, suspension, lift or leveling work, we'll tell you if you need an alignment and send you to an alignment shop. If anything doesn't feel right afterward, call us.
Before we leave
What to Expect When a Mobile Mechanic Comes to Your House
Mobile repair works best when a few things are ready ahead of time.
A place to work. We need a safe, reasonably level spot with room to walk around the vehicle: a driveway, a garage or a parking lot where repairs are allowed. Lift and leveling installs need a level, paved spot. Some apartment complexes and HOAs don't allow repairs, so check before you book.
Access to the vehicle. We need the keys and room to open the doors and hood.
The weather. We work through most Kentucky weather. If heavy rain, ice, darkness or an unsafe spot would hurt the quality of the repair, we may reschedule, and we'll tell you ahead of time.
Older and rusted vehicles. A lot of the Jeeps and trucks we work on have seen years of road salt. Seized or rusted bolts can break during removal even when the work is done right. If that happens, we stop, tell you what broke, and tell you what it takes to fix before going further.
Bigger jobs. A few jobs need a shop floor instead of a driveway, like regears, frame work, transfer case and manual transmission rebuilds, and lifts over 3 inches. Those are by arrangement, so ask us, and you'll get a straight answer.
We cover about 30 miles around Louisville, including Southern Indiana. See our page for a mobile mechanic in Louisville for the full service area.

What Mobile Repair Costs, How You Pay and What's Covered
What it costs. Labor is $120 an hour. The diagnostic is $120, and only when there's a problem to find. Flat-rate jobs get a free quote. There's no trip fee anywhere in our service area. Because there's no storefront or front office built into the bill, we can keep the price down without cutting corners. Prices for specific jobs are on each service page, like mobile brake repair, death wobble and lift and leveling kits.
Approval first. You get a clear price before any work starts, and nothing is added without your OK.
Paying. Payment is due when the work is done. We take Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express, Apple Pay, Venmo and Cash App Pay.
Parts and warranty. Our labor carries a lifetime warranty, and parts carry their manufacturer's warranty, whether we supply them or you do. We'll help you with a claim on parts we supply. The full details are in our terms and conditions.

Questions About How Our Mobile Mechanic Service Works
What vehicles do you work on?
Jeeps, pickup trucks and SUVs, and only those. Jeeps are our specialty: Wrangler TJ, JK and JL, Gladiator, Cherokee XJ and older CJs. We don't take cars, minivans or crossovers.
How fast will I hear back?
Usually the same day. Reach out in the morning and Noah will usually call you back at lunch; reach out later in the day and you'll usually hear back after 5pm.
Do I have to pay for a diagnostic?
Only when there's an unknown problem to find, like a warning light or a noise. The diagnostic is $120. Flat-rate jobs like brakes and accessory installs get a free quote instead, and there's no trip fee either way.
Can you finish the repair the same day?
Usually, if the parts are on hand. When parts need ordering, they usually arrive in 1–3 days, and we schedule the repair for when they're in. Noah brings them with him.
What if you find something else while you're working?
We stop and tell you. You'll see the problem, hear what it costs to fix, and decide whether to do it now or later. Nothing gets added to the bill without your OK.
Tell Us What It's Doing. We'll Take It From There.
