Why Mobile

Why Southern Indiana Drivers Book a Mobile Mechanic

A lot of Southern Indiana works in Louisville or out at River Ridge, and a lot of Louisville repair shops keep weekday hours. Getting a truck worked on can mean a bridge crossing before work, a ride back, and another crossing to pick it up before the shop closes.

A mobile mechanic takes all of that off your plate. Our appointments run weekday evenings from 5 to 8pm and weekends from 8am to 8pm, at your house in Jeffersonville, New Albany, Clarksville or Sellersburg. The vehicle stays in your driveway and you stay home.

What it costs:

  • Labor: $120 an hour.
  • Diagnostic: $120, when there's a problem to find.
  • Flat-rate jobs like brakes get a free quote, by phone or from a few photos.
  • No trip fee in Clark or Floyd County. Crossing the river doesn't change the price.
  • Brake pads and rotors: from $450, parts and labor, on Jeeps and half-ton pickups.

There's no storefront or front office built into the bill, so we can keep the price down without cutting corners.

What We Fix

What Southern Indiana Jeeps, Pickups & SUVs Need Fixed

Most of what we do on the Indiana side is the same work that keeps any Jeep or truck safe to drive every day.

Brakes. Pads, rotors, calipers and lines, done in your driveway. See our mobile brake repair page.

Steering, ball joints and death wobble. Wandering, clunks and the highway-speed shake Jeep owners call death wobble. Ball joints, tie rods and track bars are on our steering and ball joint repair page.

Pickups and SUVs. F-150s, Silverados, Ram 1500s, Tacomas and Tundras for brakes, steering, suspension and maintenance. More on our truck and SUV repair page.

Upgrades. Lift kits up to 3 inches and leveling kits and off-road lighting, installed at your place.

Jeeps are the specialty. For Jeep repair in Jeffersonville and New Albany, Noah works on Wrangler TJ, JK and JL, Gladiator, Cherokee XJ and older CJs. Bigger jobs that need a shop floor, like regears, frame work and lifts over 3 inches, are by arrangement, so ask us. Alignments go to an alignment shop, and we'll tell you when you need one.

Where We Work

Where We Come to You in Jeffersonville, New Albany, Clarksville & Sellersburg

We cover Clark and Floyd counties: Jeffersonville, Clarksville, New Albany and Sellersburg, plus places like Floyds Knobs, Georgetown, Utica and Charlestown. Whether you're off I-65, I-265, State Road 62 or State Road 111, it's the same service and the same price.

Getting to you is easy. The Kennedy and Lincoln bridges carry I-65 into Jeffersonville, the Lewis and Clark Bridge brings I-265 across from the East End, and the Sherman Minton Bridge carries I-64 into New Albany.

Work lots count too. If you work an evening or weekend shift, we can often do the job in your employer's lot, as long as repairs are allowed there. Businesses running a few work trucks can ask about our fleet maintenance service.

All we need is a safe, reasonably level spot with room to work. Lift and leveling installs need a level, paved spot.

What the Knobs and River Roads Ask of a Southern Indiana Jeep or Truck

Southern Indiana has its own mix of roads, and it shows up in the repairs.

Hills and grades. West of New Albany, I-64 climbs the knobs, and the back roads around Floyds Knobs and Georgetown are steep, winding two-lanes. Long downhill grades heat up brakes, especially on a loaded pickup or a Jeep on heavier tires, and that shows up as glazed pads, warped rotors and a pulsing pedal.

Salt and freeze-thaw. Indiana salts its roads too, and the freeze-thaw cycle opens potholes on both sides of the river. Salt eats brake lines and hardware, and potholes wear out ball joints and track bars. That's where a lot of Jeep death wobble starts.

Commuting across the river. Daily bridge traffic and stop-and-go on I-65 add up on brakes and front ends, especially on a truck you depend on to get to work.

When you call about one noise, we check the whole system, not just the part you mentioned.

FAQ

Questions Southern Indiana Drivers Ask Us

Do you really come to Indiana?

Yes. Jeffersonville, New Albany, Clarksville, Sellersburg and the rest of Clark and Floyd counties are part of our regular service area. We do the repair at your home or workplace on weekday evenings and weekends.

Is there an extra charge for crossing the river?

No. There's no trip fee anywhere in our service area, Indiana included. You pay for the work: $120 an hour for labor, a $120 diagnostic when there's a problem to find, and a free quote on flat-rate jobs like brakes.

Do you work on Jeeps and trucks only?

Yes. We work on Jeeps, pickup trucks and SUVs, and only those. If you drive a car, minivan or crossover, we'll tell you on the first call so you can find the right mechanic quickly.

My brakes pulse coming down the hill into New Albany. What's going on?

Usually that's rotors that have overheated on long grades, often with glazed pads. We check the rotors, pads, calipers and fluid at your place, tell you what's worn, and give you a price before any work starts.

Can you work at my job at River Ridge or another workplace?

Often, if the property allows repairs in its lot and you're there during our hours (weekday evenings and weekends). Ask your employer first, and we'll plan the visit around your shift.
